Christmas electric kids quad bike gift guide: our 2026 picks

Kids Quads started with a dad looking for a quad for his son. Steve wanted an all-terrain quad, but the petrol quads he found were noisy, and he didn’t think they were safe enough for a child. Electric quads were the answer: quiet, simple to look after, and with a speed limiter that a parent controls with a key. That’s still the reason most families come to us in November and December.

An electric quad is a big present, and it’s one that gets children outdoors in the months when it’s easiest to stay in. This guide sets out which quad suits which child, the kit to buy alongside it, and how to make sure it’s charged and ready on Christmas morning rather than sitting in a box until Boxing Day.

Choose by age and confidence, not top speed

Every quad in our range has a three-position speed limiter, locked with a removable key. Your child starts on the slowest setting, and you decide when they move up. So top speed matters less than you’d think when you’re choosing. What matters more is the size of the quad, how stable it feels, and how far it’ll go on a charge.

If you’re torn between two sizes, our age guide goes into more detail. Below are the models we’d point most families towards this Christmas.

Our Christmas picks for 2026

A first quad for younger riders: Sport 36V

The Sport 36V is the quad we suggest most often for a child’s first go, and it’s built for ages 4 to 9. Smaller wheels and a lower build make it more stable than the bigger models, which is what you want while a child is still learning to steer and stop. Its three speed settings are 6, 9 and 22mph, and a full charge gives around 12 to 15 miles.

It’s also our most reviewed quad, rated 4.76 out of 5 across 200 reviews. At the time of writing it’s ยฃ429.95. We’ve written more about why we recommend it in our guide to the best first electric quad bikes.

Our best seller: Shredder 36

The Shredder 36 is the quad most families buy from us, and it’s a good fit for a child who’s already confident or will be soon. It goes further than the Sport, around 18 to 22 miles on a charge, and its speed settings are 6, 10 and 22mph. It’s rated 4.80 out of 5 across 40 reviews and is ยฃ429.90 at the time of writing.

If you’re choosing between the two, our Shredder vs Sport comparison sets out the differences side by side.

For rougher ground: Shredder 36 Black Edition

The Shredder 36 Black Edition swaps the standard motor for a brushless one, which gives more torque on slopes and uneven ground. It has bigger tyres and upgraded brakes, and its speed settings are lower to start with: 3, 8 and 15mph. It’s ยฃ499.95 at the time of writing.

There’s also a Black Edition Pro FX with a 1200W brushless motor and settings of 6, 11 and 21mph, at ยฃ539.95. It’s a step up in power from the standard Black Edition, so it’s better for a confident rider than a first-timer.

For older children and teens: Shredder 48XL

For bigger and older riders, the Shredder 48XL has an 1800W motor, speed settings of 8, 13 and 25mph, and a range of around 18 to 22 miles. It’s ยฃ1,499.95 at the time of writing. The Shredder 48 and Shredder 48 Lithium were out of stock when we wrote this, so check the product pages if you had your heart set on one of those.

Something different: an electric go kart

If your child would rather sit low than ride a quad, our Evolution eKart range is built for ages 6 to 15. The eKart 48V is ยฃ999.95 and the eKart 48V Lithium is ยฃ1,199.95 at the time of writing. Our post on electric quad bikes versus electric go karts will help you decide between the two.

The kit to wrap up with it

A helmet comes first. After that, gloves, boots and a riding suit make a big difference to how long a child is happy to stay out on a cold day. You get 10% off our safety wear when you buy it with any ride-on, and our bundles put a quad and its kit together in one order, from a helmet only up to a full race suit.

Getting it ready for Christmas morning

A few things make the difference between a quad that’s ridden on Christmas Day and one that waits until the weekend:

  • Choose the assembled option. For ยฃ40 we’ll send it fully assembled, tested and ready to ride, so there’s no late-night build on Christmas Eve.
  • Charge it fully before the day. A flat battery takes several hours to charge, so do it in the days before Christmas, not on the morning.
  • Have the helmet ready too. It’s much easier to say “helmet on first” if it’s already there with the quad.
  • Plan where the first ride will happen. A flat, open bit of garden or a field you have permission to use is ideal. Start on the slowest setting and stay close. Our beginners’ guide covers the first few rides step by step.

Ordering in time for Christmas

Order by 21st of December at midday for delivery before Christmas. Quads are large parcels, so please don’t leave it to the last possible moment.

If you’d like to see the quads before you buy, you can book a test drive at our showroom near Ely in Cambridgeshire. It’s open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, and on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm by appointment.

You can also spread the cost with finance through PayL8r, subject to status.

The presentation of an electric kids quad bike can amplify the excitement of Christmas morning discovery. Consider creative reveal strategies that build anticipation throughout the gift-opening process. Trail-of-clues approaches work particularly well, leading children from smaller related gifts towards their main surprise.

Weather considerations in British winters might necessitate indoor presentation followed by outdoor demonstration once conditions permit. Preparing a suitable riding area in advance, perhaps clearing garden paths or identifying local spaces suitable for initial practice sessions, demonstrates thoughtful planning that maximises immediate enjoyment.

Key Presentation Tips:

  • Ensure full battery charge for immediate use
  • Prepare age-appropriate safety briefing
  • Identify suitable practice areas in advance
  • Plan family involvement in first riding experiences

Budget Considerations and Value Planning

Electric kids quad bikes represent significant investments that provide exceptional long-term value through years of active use. Entry-level models suitable for younger children typically range from ยฃ400-ยฃ600, whilst advanced options for teenagers may reach ยฃ800-ยฃ1200. However, the cost-per-hour of entertainment often proves remarkably economical compared to other recreational activities.

Consider the total ownership experience when evaluating options. Premium models with better build quality, extended warranties, and comprehensive customer support often provide superior long-term value despite higher initial costs. Factor in potential sharing between siblings or friends, which further enhances the investment value.

Making Christmas Dreams Reality

The joy of watching children experience their first electric kids quad bike adventure creates memories that families treasure for years. These gifts represent more than mere toys; they symbolise trust, independence, and the beginning of lifelong outdoor appreciation. The combination of excitement, skill development, and family bonding opportunities makes a kids quad the ultimate Christmas surprise for young adventurers ready to explore their world in exciting new ways.

By choosing the right electric kids quad bike for your child’s age, interests, and abilities, you provide a gift that grows alongside their development whilst creating countless opportunities for outdoor family adventures throughout the coming year.
